Zach and I decided to spend our Sunday morning visiting the Hirshhorn Museum. The modern art museum had been closed for 17 months due to the pandemic, so it was our first time visiting it since 2019. The museum has a feminist gallery, showcasing bold banners by the Guerrilla Girls. It also has a gallery featuring Contemporary Chinese photography and a circular gallery features Mark Bradford’s Pickett’s Charge, a Civil War-era artwork under layers of everyday objects. The artwork made me and Zach think about modern day social issues and feel unexpected emotions.
